I am buying the new 7 disc etk (2008 pricing) etc which works on vista, I'm thinking to upload it to pirate bay as a torrent so everyone can get a copy. Is there an easier way to do this? Can anyone offer any advice. I hope to make it available to site users for download that will burn to disc and work as original.

I don't know what an etk disc is, but I assume it's BMW related, and copyrighted. If so, I'd think extremely carefully before you file share it, especially now that you advertised the fact on a public forum! I'd be surprised if BMW don't check this forum, for various reasons, on a regular basis.

If the copyright holders caught you and decided to sue you, you'd be liable for every copy that was downloaded by other users.

Its well documented on this site and I dont assume that the copies on ebay are licensed for sale. I'm a supporter of file sharing per se and think copyright laws are well due an overhaul but theese discs are in the public domain, (on sale on ebay) and I would gamble 25% of site users have some version, this is just the most recent.

If you use realoem then I guess this is copyright infringement as it is basically etk, tis is the bmw service manual and wds are the wiring diagrams.

If the mods delete this post I'll understand but search tis or etk on this site and you'll get a thousand hits.

I wasn't having a go, I was just advising that you should be careful! With regards to copyright and file sharing, I agree with you to a large extent though.

Sorry Wilseus. Didn't mean to sound so antsy. I have to remember to think before posting! Bmw should be happy we have etk, it saves my local parts guy (busy man) hours of work when I just turn up with part numbers. IMO they should give it with every car but then they couldn't charge €125 an hour labour to change a light bulb. Who's robbing who? Pet hate of mine but no reason to go off at you, apologies.

I've never used the web based file sharing sites. Always p2p torrents so I am not sure about download speeds etc, I was hoping someone could give me a link or recommend a service they had used.

I have no idea of file size but it comes on 7 dvds and covers all models since the 1950s to 2008 so I assume it is pretty large. (I'm still waiting on delivery) My 2007 discs, (3 discs set on cd) are about 9gb combined so I am assuming a 7 dvd set will be double this.
