Thought i would start this here instead of taking voer the RWYB II thread.
My ideas for 2009 for the first Nurburgring trip are as follows.
Go sometime in May on a Friday around lunchtime. Take an easy route down to the Nurburgring. Stay in a guesthouse in Nurburg to save on some dosh. Eat and drink in the Pistenklause to our heaerts content. Have Saturday, Sunday on the track. Leave on a Monday morning, relatively early, and travel to Spa for some track time there either Monday afternoon or all day Tuesday and get the late night train/ferry home.
This is just an idea at the moment. I am looking at Spa's website to see about open pit lane driving, but so far have found nothing.
Feel free to jot down some other ideas, throw them about a bit. Nothing is set in stone yet
cheers

Please can we make it early June as I'm on holiday from 16th May until 30th May. Any time after that.
I've got a week pass booked so I'm up for it.

i think that the best way to do this would be to do an early May trip Ring trip for definate, late April will still have poor weather in my opinion. So, May would be a good bet. This would be a good first trip in my opinion.
Could also do a June trip to the Ring and coincide with SPA on the way back then, ultimate weather conditions then I was there in June this year and it was immense, July and August get too busy to really enjoy some free lapping at the Ring.
Then another late August early September trip to finish the year off
what do you guys think?

| Like Paul, I may have a problem having too many weekdays off with my other holiday commitments. I reckon early May would be good, but probably would have to give Spa a miss this time. Guest house idea seems good too, as the Tiergarten can be a little expensive, especially if in a double room on your own, and next year's prices are sure to go up too. Would still want to eat / drink at the PK though! |

That's the main thing Mark. Rich pointed it out to me in September. He was staying on hisown in the guesthouse, and quite rightly said that he wasn't missing out on anything as nothing happens in the hotel, we don't do anything.
As long as we are in Nuburg and can walk to and from the Pistenklause, i say we give guesthousing a go

A few of us do two to three trips a year on here so are used to the times when we go and the organisation. I know of the guys who run thenurburgringexperiance . Look out for our next trip announcement and join us if you want. Ring opening dates will be released late december normally. |

The nurburgring trip goes on two or three times a year therefore for me there is ample oppurtunity to do The Ring. I would like to have a different experience on the continent hence i suugested the following;
Ferry Sunday/monday night. Drive to the Stelvio Pass and experience one of the best driving roads in the world. Head back up towards SPA do a day on the track. By Friday night be en-route to Le Mans for the weekend on the lash, ferry back Monday night.....obviously dates for SPA would have to tie in but what a trip that would be, Something different, an awesome road trip
I would like to develop this idea give or take, it's all open ended. What might start out as a trip to do something different will just end up as another weekend Ring trip, as good as they are, and personally i would like to set a different agenda.
Graham, the dates you mention are cool i would say. The key with all these things is the weather and the later into June i say the better chance of some dry weather so for me second week of june leading into Le Mans weekend is a big possilble. |

A non event would probably mean quieter roads, can you imagine trying to explain to your insurance company that you have "furious driving" recorded on your license.
Might be a good idea for an early weekend next year. March/April maybe, it`ll be snowing at the Ring but we might get away with showers or even sunny spells in the isle of mann and the pubs are always dry indoors. |

IOM is a fantastic place, I've been 6 times in the last year or so.
The mountain road is one of the best driving roads I've ever been on but it can get poor visability as you climb up especially in the morning or when it's bad weather.
You can drive round all of the TT circuit but not all of it's de-restriced and you should observe the slower speed limits in built up areas, but their are no speed camera's anywhere.
You can get a ferry from either Liverpool (seacat faster but only runs in summer) or from Haysham which runs all year but takes longer (3 1/2 hrs).
Prices start at £166 return depending on what time of year you go.
Best place to stay is the Hilton in Douglas or the Sefton Hotel which has it's own gated carpark. There are though loads of guest houses all over the island but the best place to stay is in Douglas because that's where most things are.
There is a south circuit as well but it's not very long but has some good long straights.
We've booked to go at the end of April so I can show you the sights if you go then. |

I am defo up for the ring next year, despite a baby (our 1st) due in January, I already have my weekend pass for the ring next year.
I am happy for the guest house idea.
I am happy for the agenda to be slightly different, but am restricted on the length of the trip though. Leaving Friday, arriving home Tuesday is fine, anything longer might be an issue. Us 'Northeners' do have that extra leg of the journey with the ferries.
May/June to try to get a better chance of the weather is where we want to be aiming.
IOM is an EXCELLENT idea! Always wanted to go there. |

Interested for sure
Particularly interested in Plowy's Stelios pass idea as we planned to do that (and that long French bridge) ourselves next year anyway. |

| Isle of Man trip would be a great idea - would love to be involved. I assumed the NW Region of the BMWCC would have organised this sort of trip, but after 12 months membership and the most exciting event being a visit to the Imperial War Museum, I fear not. The Mountain Circuit and no speed limits... wonderful! |
