Hi,

Can anyone point me in the direction of some software that I could use to talk to my BMW? I've got a KKL lead and an ELM interface, plus the converter cable to attach to the 20-pin connector on the car.

I've never found anything that will let me connect to the ECU though...

Any advice appreciated Wink

Cheers,

Iain

I've got INPA half-working. I can talk to the airbag and abs ECUs, but not the engine one. Typical!

You need and ADS interface to communicate with your E34.

As you can see they are more expensive that the later OBD interfaces.

Carsoft v6.5 works perfectly with my E32s, I would assume the E34 will be the same. The interface leads and a copy of the software comes up on eBay occasionally for around £65, but are usually very swiftly taken down as I am sure Carosft themselves are protecting their own investment.

If you are anywhere near Wiltshire, you are welcome to come over and use my kit to read your car.

Martin.

Cheers. INPA is purported to work with a KKL interface, and I've got bits of it working. There's some trick to do with joining a couple of pins (the 2 K-lines), which I might try before giving up!

I'll keep an eye on ebay to see if anything comes up on either ADS or Carsoft...

I'm quite far away from Wiltshire, but thanks for the offer!

According to the description of an eBay item, I need to see if I have pin 15 on my diag socket (on the car).

If it's there, I need ADS. If not, I can use ADS or OBD2...

I think I can guess the answer!
