Gearbox problem - 330d Auto
Hi,
Car has developed a slight gearbox problem - not sure what it might be yet, but symptoms are:
a) under gentle acceleration, car behaves normally
b) under slightly harder acceleration, the car seems to hesitate around 1700rpm as if being held back, then eventually accelerate normally.
c) under some circumstances, the revs will fluctuate around 1500-2000rpm as if the lock up clutch in the auto is engaging/disengaging
Any ideas? Whilst it seems like its related to the lock up clutch, I know auto gearboxes are complicated and there could be several causes.
Any ideas what a recon gearbox for a 330d would cost, and from where?
I'm going to take it to a gearbox specialist - heres hoping a flush/fluid change might magically fix it if its just some debris in one of the passageways!!!!(yep, ever optimistic!)
Thanks

I doubt very much that it will come to a recon gearbox, an auto specialist will fix it.
I wondered why the frisbee was getting bigger.....and then it hit me!

...update
Took it to a gearbox specialist, who test drove it and was not convinced there was anything wrong with the gearbox. They checked the oil level, which was OK, and cleared a couple of codes from the car (to do with glowplugs & coolant heating). These cleared OK with no apparent problems in these areas and the car is now running just like it should! Hurray!
PS - I took it to Glouscester Road Gearboxes near the centre of Bristol - given the outcome and their helpful behaviour I have to say I was impressed.
Cheers!
