Postby Ian7 » Wed, 30 Nov 2011 19:19:46 UTC

Hi,
I got my turbo back from the specialist today( turbo clinic) and have said the cause of my turbo troubles are that my Cat is blocked and needs unblocking,,,
But how can i do that, and is the cat also called a DPF?

Cheers Ian

you need to identify whether they mean your catalytic convertor or dpf if its the cat you will require a new/good used one people have had some success removing the dpf and pressurewashing it then baking it in the oven but to honest you would be better off replacing it with a new or known good replacement or you wil suffer thesame fate again give these guys ring quarry motors or fab recycling not got the numbers to hand at the moment but just google it kind regards jimbob.

Very good...made me lol.... [:D]

Anyway back to the subject in hand....never heard of a blocked CAT before. If it is the CAT then maybe try one of the additives you put in your fuel tank to see if that will clear it. If not then sorry I dont know much else regards this.

If its a blocked DPF....get rid of it and remap the vehicle so it doesnt look for it anymore. They consume fuel and drive your MPG down and also are a complete pain in the backside.....the AA wrote a great article on the DPF and inherent problems everyone is facing. It is easily done for about £600 all in....probably half the cost of a new DPF.

Hope this helps
