Samsung Galaxy S2 Compatibility with Bluetooth on my car?

Postby Doogie » Sun, 17 Jul 2011 17:26:24 UTC

I am looking at getting a Samsung Galaxy S2 mobile, and am wondering if anyone knows if it works very well / at all with the bluetooth system in my car. I have a Nov 2005 535d which has had a software update in late 2007 as far as I can remember. Any ideas anyone?

Other options I am considering are HTC Sensation, Sony Ericsson Xperia arc and i-phone 4. Any experience with these handsets?

Cheers

I currently have the iphone 3GS but am looking to upgrade. I have adaptor for the iphone in my car which goes in the fitted cradle, which according to BMW doesn't work on my age of car, but it does as my software level is late 2007. I am considering a change of phone now and the Samsung Galaxy S2 looks appealing, seems to do everything the iphone 3GS does but better including viewing Flash! I was trying to see if the phone will work with the car and get the contacts up on the i-drive before I comitted to it. Anyone else have any experience of any of the aforementioned handsets?

Thanks Ian, that sounds promising. I don't think I'll be able to get a cradle for it but I can live with that. Looks like the S2 might be an option then.

Cheers Ian, hope you et al are well!

I have 08 5 series and my S2 pairs fine. Only problem I have found is the signal strength shown in the i-drive doesn't change. It shows the signal strength at connection and the number of bars never changes.

Did you ever get this to work. I've just got a 2006 bmw 530d and already have a galaxy s2. The phone seems to pair ok. I can see my contacts etc but when i try to make , or answer, a call i can't hear the other person and they can't hear me. Not sure if it's the phone or there is a problem with the car..

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Have you tried turning the radio volume up during a call because that increases the volume of the phone.
