325tds starts then cuts out

Postby siraff » Tue, 21 Jun 2011 22:19:54 UTC

Right this one has got me stumped so I'm open to ideas. 325 TDS engine - it's been out of one car and into another. Now it starts instantly but then cuts out immediately. Does it sound like something unplugged or a different issue? If it makes any difference the stop solenoid is getting constant positive all the time the ignition is on (so it's not that).

I hope not mate. It was starting and running fine when removed from the other car. Is the pump likely to give up when you swap them over? Any ideas how to check it?

Could it be an immobiliser problem? Did you get all the necessary bits off the donor car? I'm just stabbing in the dark here......

It's got fuel at the injectors (under pressure) and there are no bubbles in the lines now. It did take quite a while to bleed but I'm fairly confident it's done.

I did get all the immobiliser bits but the car it's gone into already had the immob disabled (EWS1). I've been toying with the idea of connecting it back up just incase so I think that's probably my next move. Do you know if the immobiliser cuts the stop solenoid or just pump firing though? If it cuts the solenoid it's not immob because that's got constant power while switched on.

You and me both mate. I just take them out and put them in. I'll put the immob back to the donor car spec and see if that makes any difference.
Any other ideas or suggestions keep them coming - I've not been stumped for a very long time.
