10 to 11 bar (150 to 165 psi approx) if I remember correct with no more than 10 % allowance between cylinders which is more important .

10 to 11 bar is the BMW minimum compression pressure

So what is recommended readings???

I did mine today.... here is post of my nikasil thread!!!

Further information on my Nikasil engine......Today i dug out my Compression tester and tested my engine!

Test done to the letter for my Gunson Compression tester.

I tested 4 times and had a very slight difference in results for 3 cylinders of nothing more then 0.3 of a bar.
The following results are the figures i got 3 times out of 4 whilst testing.

1. 13.5 Bar
2. 13.0
3. 13.4
4. 12.9
5. 12.8
6. 12.5

What you think?

Not bad at all , id say the drop of is due to the battery getting tired as you did each cylinder rather than any issue as there is a steady drop from 1 to 6.As the cylinder cool the rings wont seal as well either for a 6 cylinder car id be tempted to run the car 5 mins after the first 3 before doing the next 3 to charge the batt and heat the cylinders again :D

Yea seems a good result, though i did test all 6 cylinders and then re-test them straight away with almost identical results so im assuming the battery or heat loss probably didnt affect it too much...........

Still not sure what the recommnded is suppose to be :-(

They are all reasonably close together and above the min spec so as slim says no worries there. :D

As others have said, you have a difference of less than 10% between lowest/highest readings on a 14 year old car so you should stop worrying really...

Cheers,
