E46 330i Coil Pack location. Where are they?
Hi
Could someone let me know where the coil packs are located on an E46 330i please. I think they are located at the end of the HT leads but have no idea.
My wifes 330i was delivered home after an Inspection 2 from a main dealer with the dealer telling me over the phone they discovered coil pack on cylinder 5 to be faulty. Now it was fine when it went in and had all 6 coil packs replaced September 2008 and whilst I appreciate these appear to be an achillies heel of the E46 it's one hell of a coincidence.
My belief is, assuming the coil packs are at the end of the HT leads, they may have accidentally damaged one when replacing the spark plugs. I understand the coil packs are fragile.
Is this a rational assumption or am I way off here? Either way pretty poor service to have your car dumped on your drive after a service to have it worse than when it went in.
Any help appreciated.
Incidentally dealer still has not returned my calls.
Cheers
Kieron

If all the coil parts were replaced in 09/2008 with genuine BMW parts, they're warrantied for 24 months......
Never underestimate the power of thrawn.

Ok so seems fairly clear to me then in order to replace the spark plugs for an inspection 2 they would be working on or around the coil packs.

Don't think so as the car was running absolutely fine but the dealer delivered it back with the engine check light on which wasn't on before. Good eh?!
