Yep fully synthetic oil, adhering to BMW LL01 (Longlife 2001) standard, as your car is a 2001, you could use LL04 (2004) oil if you cant find LL01. Check on the back of the bottle for these codes.

Popular brands are Castrol Edge 0w/30, available from BP garages or Halfords. Some versions of Mobil 1 are also BMW LL01 approved.

The full list of all LL01 approved oils is in our Tech Zone for you to download.

Cheaper brands like Fuchs Titan are good also, you can get it online at www.opieoils.co.uk

Why didn't you just call a BMW garage??

I have been told that Mobil 1 0w-40 is a very good oil. From what I have seen it can be had for approximately £40 for 5 litres.

Oil and Filter change £25.00

Postby mfivebmw » Sun, 16 Mar 2008 01:10:53 UTC

Quik Fit are doing Oil and filter changes for £25.00 Mobil 1 Semi Synthetic or

£49.50 Mobil 1 Fully Synthetic, and that's for what ever amount of oil the engine holds, ie 6 cylinder engines 6.5 litres,

the oil filters are from Partco but if you want to supply your own genuine filter, they will fit that and give you a few pounds
off.

HOPE THIS HELPS
