E60 530d first service cost.

Postby dandle » Sat, 07 Feb 2009 12:38:58 UTC

My car is coming up for its first service next month so i started phoning around for prices. As its two years old it requires a brake fluid change as well and pollen filters(linked to the oil change on my car not a seperate item). For the brake fluid and oil change one dealer quoted me £260 with the pollen filters at £66 for the parts on top. I phoned my local dealer after that and they quoted £339 just for the oil and brake fluid service, after a telling them the price I had already been quoted they came back with a price of £330 and would include and fit the pollen filters as well.

What prices have other people been paying for the servicing on your 530d's?

"A straight forward oil service and standard scope check on your car would be £215 incl vat. This is with 10% discount off parts and labour"
....However a oil change for £215 is simply extortionate and will therefore get it done elsewhere.

"Just to clarify the cost of the oil change is mostly the cost of the fully synthetic oil in your engine. The oil alone is a cost of £152 and the oil filter is £17.96 so it is only a small proportion of the total cost that is labour." What a load of crap.

For a oil change if you supply the oil to the dealer you should be looking at around £150-180 inc oil + brake fluid change. Dont know about the pollen filters so cant comment.

Hope this helps.

.

The cost of the oil is a bit steep there, how much oil do the 530d e60s take. The newer filters seem expensive but are of a better design afaik and in the total cost not a big deal.

I think the brake fluid change is around £90-100 so only paying £160 for the oil change. The pollen filters are £66 for just the parts so I'm kinda getting them fitted for nothing. It was a condition I buy them that they would honour the £260 brake and oil change.

If my Dealer committed to saying this to me then I would be VERY happy...as I would then be looking to supply my own oil and get them to reduce the cost of oil from the cost of service.

For comparison all of below was done at dealership (same one and closest to me) for an 03 E60 530d

10/01/2007 Microfilter service £82.17 (Pollen Filter)
02/07/2007 Brake fluid service £84.86
10/11/2008 Oil service £174.89

The car holds just over 8 litres of oil (and they also include an additional litre top up pack). Above prices include VAT.

Unless things have changed the Pollen filters are separate from the oil service and are depicted on the i-drive. Engine air filter is with the oil service interval and as far as I can see every third one (approx 50-60,000 miles)

On LCI cars they have changed the pollen filter service interval. It no longer shows on Idrive as a seperate item and is changed at every oil service.

I wonder why they did that? It works out at between 2-3 oil changes per pollen filter with mine.

Cooper Reading charged me £73 for an oil change on an E90 330d, oil supplied by me.
