I think you need to go back to the Ebay site or direct to the manufacturer and ask them to explain exactly how to wire it in.

Looking on their site they do a CAN-bus adapter for VW and in the notes below suggest that for a Mercedes CLK you need an special adapter which they don't supply - special-canbus-adapter-decoder-for-our-vw-car-dvd-player

Was this you?
Hi I've just bought the erisin ES728EU on the basis it will work with steering controls. I have a BMW 530d msport e39. how do i wire the steering controls to the head unit? I have looked everywhere for an answer but haven't been able to get an answer kind regards

Sorry for this,if your BMW has the can-bus built in, if so we are honest, the steering wheel control will not work,as a special can-bus adapter is needed for your that car

Very confusing...

Maybe contact Dynamic Sounds as linked to by RichardP earlier in this thread and ask them if their interface works with your unit...

I'm sorry you are being the "guinea pig" on this, but, this information is very useful to other E39 owners :-)

ok, spoken to them at erisin again..... they reckon it might wire straight in???

do any of you have a breakdown of which wire is which in the car?

i have the speaker wire cluster, the other cluster with power etc in it, a breakdown of this one would be handy, also have 2 smaller ones, 1 of them has 2 wires and the other 3 wires.

thanks again guys

Do you still have the large 17pin connector or did the previous owner cut that off?
BMW call this X18126

I-Bus pin 7 White/Grey/Yellow
GND pin 15 Brown
+12v pin 9 Red/Green

Problem is that Erisin are not telling you which wire on their connector goes to the I-Bus or how do you tell their unit that's it's a BMW all before you try and "map" bus commands to functions i.e. Vol + -, Track select...

hiya,

thanks for that, i do have the connector by the look of it.

the unit is meant to be able to figure it out apparently??? when you set it up, you press a button on the steering wheel and then the function you want it to control on the unit.

its a pain, as erisin are a chinese company i guess as they are closed for the chinese festival... so replies from them are very slow at the moment

i'll try to find out which cable goes to the ibus and give it a go

thanks, i'll report my findings

ok, so it doesnt work without an adapter

i think the truth is that erisin dont know... lol..

so.... the issue i now have, if i buy an adapter........... everyone says i need a patch lead, but they dont do them for erisin.... can i buy any patch lead and "adapt" it to work do u think? buy hard wiring it?

Found this on a SAAB  forum - http://www.saabscene.com/forum/threads/143374-Media-centre might be worth popping a post on there and asking swedishcar exactly what wires he connected to on the Erisin.

He said "Steering wheel you just cut off the Sony 3.5mm plug and wire direct to steering control on radio." so sounds like the Erisin is Sony protocol on its steering wheel interface.

In your case you would then use the Dynamic Sounds interface as though it was connected to a Sony HU...

Hi all,

Sorry for the delay! I did get this issue sorted out eventually! The erisen head unit defaults to a Sony format so just removed the jack plug from the end of the patch lead and hard wired it myself!

Didn't take long to figure out which wire did what and it works!! Just the phone controls that don't work! But I can live with that compromise!!

Thanks everyone for your input on this!
