What Sun Blinds for an E90

Postby MIKE172 » Mon, 15 Jun 2009 11:47:38 UTC

Hi,

My wife bought some sun blinds from Mothercare to protect our 6 month old now the sun is out but they are rubbish and fall off all the time. I don't really want Winnie the Pooh blinds - what does everyone recommend. I have had a look at BMW UK's website but it says price on apllication - I guess this means don't even ask!!!

Thanks!!

Mike.

A few here have bought these and are pleased.
Definately get something fitted that will allow windows to open, worth the price.

Hi, I have a E90 and struggled with sun shades for a while. I enquired with BMW and was quoted £160 plus VAT for 2 side window and rear glass blinds. I went down the route of getting my blinds from palmautomative as suggested to you and am extremely please with it. I would highly recommend looking into it. It cost me just less than £90 and worth every penny. Hope this helps.

I would have liked the privacy glass option on our E90, but buying second hand you have to compromise ;)

I bought some third party shades when my boys were much younger and found them to be a waste of money. Consequently I decided I would only ever buy genuine or privacy glass. Our E90 doesn't have privacy glass so it was (without hesitation) a pair of genuine BMW rear window shades. They not only fit perfectly but they are non intrusive too. Cost me circa £55 IIRC - but I can get you the part # and price if you like.

e90 window blindes

I have an e90 and also a new baby. Was wanting rear window blindes/shades. Are the after market BMW ones fitted inside to door cards and do they go up and down with the windows, or are they fixed in place all the time?

Roller blinds are available by the looks of it:

The might be the ones that retract into the door card, which means re-trofitting a new door card.
A lot of these options were nto availble when I looked into it about 3 years ago.

The palmautomotive ones are clipping in place.

The rear window is a roller blind and a real PITA to retro-fit. The [rear] side windows however are clip in place and leave (see part # 3 and #4 illustration on that page). The blinds themselves are of a good enough construction and fill the window perfectly. Just like the E46 blinds previously - they give the car a 'privacy glass' like look.

Been very happy with them - defo. worth the cost.

I can vouch for the palmautomotive ones they are awesome construction and fit like a glove (E46 touring) the interior has been so much cooler during this heatwave.
If they are the same standard for the E90 you wont have any complaints..
