BMW 318i SE cutting out
I have a slightly odd problem.
I purchased a 52 plate BMW, fantastic!!
I had never driven a BMW before and am now a fanatic....however, one day a couple of weeks ago I drove to the local shop (no more than 5 minutes away) shopped for 15 minutes, when I came back the engine would not start the starter motor was turning over but nothing. I left it 5 minutes returned and it was fine except for the fact that the warning light was orange and the handbrake light was on and orange.
Thought nothing more of it, perhaps I had flooded the engine....
Since then I have driven no proble, i have even driven 150 miles (1 journey) and back within 3 days, no problem.
Then today, I was driving along and the orange warning light came on, as did the warning handbrake light, the engine then cut out.....
Any advice??

Simplest thing is to get the fault codes read at a good Indy. Otherwise you can waste money with the 'scatter-gun' approach to fault tracing.....
Welcome to the forum btw.

Sounds like the crankshaft sensor, which is a common problem, but could be other things too. Definitely get the codes read, but sometimes the crank sensor fault will not show up. Also check electrical connections such as battery, alternator.
