How many miles can it do???

Postby Pillin » Wed, 06 Jun 2007 15:29:40 UTC

How many miles do ya think i am looking at out of my car??

Got a 320d SE, 2001 with 115,000. FSH, not all BMW though.

I hear of cars doing high inti the 100,000's but never 200,000 miles???

Is there a rough expectancy?

Just curious :D

Cheers

AFAIK any BMW engine, if properly serviced etc, is capable of star-ship mileages. :P

I'm sure some on here will be able to quote their figures soon..............guys?

Is it the 136 or 150bhp version?

If its the 150bhp version then provided the Turbo and Manifold hold out, then with proper servicing it could probably do 200k

I have a '96 523i SE, which has 140k on the clock now.....have had it hooked up to diags etc etc, all hunkey dorey. I have been told, it will do the same again if it's looked after (which it is!) and the car pulls like a good 'un, and looks better than most newer cars

Correct me if i'm wrong about mileage btw if you know any different!!

Cheers,

I thought they were all 150hp?
I just picked up a 2000 320d with 118K miles on it.
How do you know which HP it is?

economy wise - unsure though.
Filled her up (£50 diesel) which took needle to full
Done 65 miles and nearly gone down to 3/4 of a tank (urban tho - very short trips of town traffic)
Im hoping for about 100 miles per quart tank (400 miles for £50 will do me)

Black Widearch 300ZX SWB Twin Turbo Manual - Too many mods to mention

I know it’s a bit of a cliché but as the saying goes, if you look after them they will look after you. This is why history and condition count more than outright mileage. Obviously, the older it gets the more will wear out but the engines tend to be strong if they are maintained correctly. And they like being driven hard.

Cheers

I have a 1995 E36 325Tds SE - had a couple of months now. Bought it with just over 141,000 miles on it and with my commute to work I am adding on average 1000 miles a month on it. It is solid, fires up first time everytime and I intend to use this until the bodywork disintergrates, which according to my specialist is more likely than the engine failing on it.

As for fuel consumption - fill it up and from a full tank average 500+ miles out of it. Got a list my arm long what I would like to do to the car, but with her age and the amount of use she gets, can't really justify all the mods I would like to do. Maybe in my next life overseas I will have that option.

It is currently showing just over 144,000 miles and when she is cleaned up, polished and looking better will try and figure out how to get some decent sized pictures onto the forum here.
